The whole point is to get something you really like that’s in good condition and costs you only a small fraction of its original price. This isn’t a question of not being able to afford brand-new, but a question of sensible everyday economics.
Why pay the top prices set by manufacturers to recover their production costs and make a reasonable profit, when this has already been achieved and those profits have already been used to produce a later model that you don’t need?
Obviously you can go to Ebay and bid for whatever takes your fancy, but remember that not all available used items are submitted to Ebay and not all buyers want to spend all their time bidding, monitoring counter-bids and rebidding. It’s exciting, adrenalin pumping and almost addictive but can be very time-consuming if you have a regular business to run.
